The Studio

Jasper Brown Architects is based in Brisbane, Australia. Our studio is now based in the inner city suburb of West End, having recently relocated from the Metro Arts building in the City centre.

The majority of our work is in the residential, multi-residential, retail and small commercial sectors. We also undertake design research for larger scale public buildings and urban spaces by carrying out our own speculative projects and participating in architectural competitions.

Our goal is to create innovative and sustainable contemporary architecture for our clients, which transcends their expectations and becomes an enduring delight to occupy. For each project we prefer to collaborate with our clients from inception to completion, overseeing operations on site to ensure that our buildings are constructed in accordance with both the agreed design intent and level of detail.

As well as working in and around Brisbane, we have also completed designs up and down the eastern seaboard of Australia, from Mission Beach in north Queensland to Bega in southern New South Wales. Additionally we have completed several residential projects in the UK.

The design of residential architecture is a particular focus in our work, and the goal of the compact, energy efficient, cost-effective dwelling is a recurring preoccupation for the practice. The prevailing landscape, topography and climate of suburban Brisbane is a rich testing ground for the design development of projects in pursuit of this ambition.

Our working method typically involves the production of several physical models and hand sketches to test and communicate our initial ideas, which are then developed using BIM computer technology. Throughout this process we remain mindful of detailed brief requirements and budget constraints.

Jasper is a registered architect in both Queensland and the United Kingdom. He has gained over 15 years experience in the offices of leading architectural practices in London, Brisbane and Germany.
