Two identical three level brick townhouses on a subdividable block in the South Brisbane suburb of Fairfield. Each of the 4 bed, 2 bath houses has a site area of 288SQM, an internal area of just under 258SQM, and a courtyard adjacent to its open plan living area.

The North-facing street façade is articulated by means of a combination of elements including: a perforated brickwork screen to define the entrances; a horizontal aluminium louvre screen to shade the main double-height living area volume; and a high level awning above parapet level to shade the master bedroom terrace areas.

A few more studies of our recent Surfers Paradise alterations and additions scheme. About 75% of the existing bungalow footprint is retained and re-roofed, the new two level extension being placed in the tapering canalside portion of the site.

The reconfigured entrance sequence at our Surfers Paradise alterations and additions project, with the new courtyard space carved into the centre of the existing bungalow plan. This offers increased light, ventilation and outlook for the study and bedroom spaces that surround it, and frames a view from the entrance hall across the new living and dining areas towards the covered canalside terrace. A concept study from last year looking at an upgrade of the Ferny Fair shopping precinct on Patrick's Road in Ferny Hills. This included idea of a new "retail ribbon" colonnade wrapping the complex which introduces filtered north light to the circulation experience, plus the inclusion of two new covered outdoor dining areas. Surfers Paradise adaptive re-use scheme. A view from the canalside end of the tapering peninsula terrace, with its oculus skylight and wrap-around upholstered seat, looking back towards the timber-lined ground floor living area. This alterations and additions project to a 1980s bungalow is located on Admiralty Drive on the Gold Coast.

Having had my eye on this book for a few months now, it was fortuitous that its launch in Blackheath coincided with my recent UK visit. This well attended event took place last Thursday evening at a local church and its adjacent community centre courtyard. It was great to finally get hold of a copy of the book which I've been enjoying since. Congratulations to the author Ana Francisco Sutherland and all of her hard working collaborators.

Great to finally visit Robin Boyd's Featherston House during the pre-Easter weekend as part of a Boyd Foundation Open House event. Thank you to my Melbourne host and guide @domenico_mesiti_ who introduced me to several other local projects. After the house visit we ended up in a nearby Ivanhoe cafe, where Dom got chatting to Mary Featherston herself, and we all enjoyed an impromptu morning tea.
