We are in the process of designing a series of rest pavilions, to be located in selected public spaces throughout South-East Queensland. Currently three designs have been developed. The first evolved out of an earlier competition entry for some beach-side shelters. The precast concrete elements for this scheme are clad in mosaic tiles. Beneath each shell is a built-in concrete seat which retains a graded planter bed, fixed to the back of which are an array of steel posts supporting a series of patterned acid-etched glass panels. The other two pavilions comprise a mosaic-tiled seat-back shell which supports a powder-coated steel trellis / shading device. These structures comprises 3 main prefabricated components, which can be quickly erected in their respective locations.
