Corinda House

This new house is located in the Western Brisbane suburb of Corinda on a slightly sloping North-facing Small Lot. Covered terraces to both the master bedroom and the main living area are given a primary Northern aspect, and a central double height East-facing courtyard is centrally located in the plan to provide natural light and ventilation to four of the five bedrooms and the Southern part of the living area.

At the street end of the building, the roof is angled upwards to the West to spatially emphasise the entry sequence. This volume continues into the entrance hall which accommodates both a stair to the lower level and a study nook overlooking the main courtyard. The brief called for five bedrooms and 3 bathrooms plus a further study bedroom for visiting grandparents. Both internally and externally, timber and tiled lined surfaces are applied to selected spaces to warm and soften reflected light.
