Cannon Hill Townhouses

This project was a collaboration between Michael Bailey and Jasper Brown Architects in Association. Our client wanted to replace the existing single dwelling on their site with a terrace of 5 new townhouses. Terraces are located on the north-east corner of each house, which are accessed via large sliding doors from adjacent living areas. Good east-west air-flow is generated through each dwelling thanks to the inclusion of a large glazed stairwell, which also introduces natural daylight deep into the living area floor plan. This level also incorporates a flexible space at the western end, which can either be closed off to become a separate rumpus, study or bedroom, or be opened up to extend the living area across the width of each house. Such adaptability ensures a range of occupancy strategies that should suit a variety of family configurations.
